MAGGIE'S PEACE CORPS UPDATES, ALL IN ONE PLACE

Maggie Leahy- Peace Corps Senegal

Salutations from Senegal! My name is Maggie, and I am a recent graduate of Boston College (BC) serving in the Peace Corps as an Environment Volunteer in Senegal. I have a B.A. in International Studies with a Concentration in Conflict and Cooperation, and a minor in Managing for Social Impact and Public Good. It's a mouthful, I know. Throughout my studies, however, I found that what really sparked my interest was the intersection of economic development with international climate politics and natural resource management. It is my hope that my experience in the Peace Corps will further my learning around these issues in a very tangible and personal way.

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a way for me to share stories and project updates while also facilitating a virtual cultural exchange with family and friends back home in the U.S., writing about other topics including food, holiday traditions, and music.  While keeping up with my posts, please note that the views I share are not necessarily reflective of the official political position of U.S. government – they are simply a reflection of my own perspective and experience throughout my time in Senegal. There will be both highs and lows in the next two years, but through it all I am immensely grateful for the support from family and friends back home. Thank you for following along on this two year adventure with me, and hopefully you’ll learn something new from it – I know I will!
